Milestones
1958: AMINO was founded in 1958 with a mission: to produce amino acids and other active ingredients from renewable vegetable raw materials. Today, AMINO is one of the largest suppliers of amino acids in Europe.
1980: AMINO starts with the production of pharmaceutical amino acids. First product in the range is L-leucine.
1989: AMINO develops the production of L-tryptophan by biotransformation of serine and indole and elaborates it to market maturity and enhances thus its portfolio with an additional amino acid. AMINO is now one of the largest manufacturers of amino acids in Europe.
2003: The Company has traditionally acquired beet sugar molasses and other vegetable raw materials from the global marketplace in order to extract and formulate high-value amino acids, betaine and nucleosides. But starting with the strategic alliance it launched in partnership with SA Bioproducts (Pty) Ltd., Durban, South Africa), AMINO has diversified its technology portfolio to include state-of-the-art fermentation capabilities, based on proprietary and/or exclusively licensed technology.
2006: This is in keeping with the company's long-term strategy to supply the highest-quality products using the most appropriate technology - whether extraction and purification technology or modern biotechnology/fermentation. Powered by its management-led restructuring and the determination and support of its new shareholders - management and external investors who support the company's vision and strategy and are determined to sustain the company in the marketplace - AMINO is focused once again on becoming a leading supplier of the best-quality specialty amino acids worldwide.
